Taking The Plunge

Spring has bloomed for the fashion world, and with it comes a host of new trends hot from the catwalk and ready to warm the cooler months. Wholesale ladies clothing manufacturers and ladieswear wholesalers alike have already made their selection and chosen their champions for this season on the high street.

Florals and Paisley prints were obvious decisions as timeless fashion designs, but there were some more contentious choices. One surprisingly trend among continental fashion houses this season was the use of aquatic themes in print and detailing, its playful naïvety creating a brutal contrast to last season's po-faced glamour obsession.

The start of last season was all about the he high-octane glamour of the 60’s as it made its long-prophesized return to the catwalk in an explosion of exquisite fur detailing and sophistication, and the season’s styles quickly progressed into a more modern sartorial elegance as ladieswear wholesalers and wholesale ladies clothing manufacturers alike used cutting-edge printing techniques to give jewel tones and metallics an overdue update for the 21st century. This spring sees that sartorial step back reach fruition, with a trend that discards the elitist snobbery of stiff-lipped couture for simply looking and feeling good... after all, isn't that what it's all about?

This trend caught more than just wholesale clothing manufacturers and ladieswear wholesalers in its siren call, as the style was popular and prevalent on even the most conservative of continental fashion house's catwalks at New York Fashion Week. Giorgio Armani, the high-end line of the Billion-dollar Italian fashion house, gave the trend a glamour injection with  a collection of shimmering dresses reminiscent of mythical beings and sea goddesses, floor length and dazzling in stunning turquoises, deep blue and aquamarines. French fashion house Chanel, boasting style legend Karl Lagerfeld at the helm, presented aquatic themes to their jewellery and accessory collections, draping their models in demure, whispering strands of pearls and one particular conch clutch bag that can only be destined as a hit among wholesale ladies clothing manufacturers and ladieswear wholesalers alike as the trend eases closer to the high street.

This trend is about fun and frivolity, a more considered and mature iteration of the floral and paisley prints that are also brightening catwalks this season. As the preppy, nautical themes of yesteryear sink beneath the tides of sartorial history, fashion designers, ladieswear wholesalers and wholesale ladies clothing manufacturers take the plunge to the aquatic, to stunning effect.
